Brandi Jo Nyberg is the main farmer at Sauntering Roots. In 2019, Brandi Jo left Alaska and started Sauntering Roots Farm with her husband Dale. Does anyone who leaves Alaska really stay gone? In 2021 they returned with the intention of becoming rooted and helping to build food security in Alaska. She holds a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida and an MFA in Creative Nonfiction from the University of Alaska. In addition to growing nutritious food for her community, Brandi Jo is very passionate about the outdoors, soil health, and education. She is one of the founding members of the Matanuska Community Farmers Market, and currently works as the Market Manager and Executive Director.

Dale Nyberg is the Sauntering Roots Farm jack of all trades. He is the resident carpenter/builder, mechanic, and helps with whatever else needs done on the farm. Dale holds a BS in Environmental Science from West Virginia Wesleyan College and is passionate about rivers, sustainability, and building/fixing things with his hands.
